(This is a highly opinionated/biased piece)

Phew….we made it boys. It’s finally December, all the games for the fall have come and gone. This fall has been nuts and it started earlier then expected.

For myself I would say my top 3 favorite games are:

  1. Bioshock
  2. Fallout 3
  3. Halo 2

This fall…..THIS FALL….Halo 5 is released within ONE WEEK of Fallout 4, this made my heart explode with joy and my mind melt all at the same time. Originally I was thrilled then I realized I had to split time with the two games which would be tough. On top of all this a little over a month before (start of fall) we had a similar situation with Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain (GOTY?) and Destiny the Taken King.

I thought having Halo and Fallout come out a week apart was cruel but then we sprinkle in Yoshi Wolly World (Underrated) and Call of Duty Black Ops 3 (My favorite COD franchise). So lets separate this so we can all understand it better:

  1. MGSV: September 1
  2. Super Mario Maker: September 11
  3. Destiny TTK: September 15
  4. Yoshi WW: October 16
  5. Halo 5: October 27
  6. BLOPS 3: November 6
  7. Fallout 4, Starcraft, Tomb Raider: November 10
  8. Star Wars: November 17

So in September we get (probably) the best game of 2015 and the farewell of the MGS franchise under Kojima followed up by Mario Maker and then Destiny, not a bad month, busy but if this was it for the fall I would be thrilled. Anxiety level is about a 3.

Metal Gear Solid V

October rolls around, still playing September titles till Yoshi which is a fun in between knowing a war is about to begin. Halo comes late October and whilst the campaign is sluggish at best the multiplayer is CRISPY (Look for a short review early December). By now MGS has been put on hold till the spring and Destiny is in a battle with Halo and the irony goes on (cough cough bungie:) ). Anxiety level is about a 7

Halo 5 Guardians

Now we have reached November, Call of Duty is played all weekend and to no surprise the multiplayer is clean and mechanically very pleasing to play (look for the review mid December). After such a short weekend with Call of Duty we are hit with a nuclear bomb in FALLOUT 4. The rest is history, alternating between Destiny–how does this always come back? Fallout 4, and Call of Duty I am sitting here going whats halo? Not to mention Battlefront comes out and there’s no time for it. At this point my brain is melted.

Fallout 4

This by no means is to complain about the content we’ve received, gaming is in a wonderful position where games are becoming more in depth, better mechanically and more enticing for players. It’s just sad when the best multiplayer experience and the franchise I’ve had my most fond gaming experiences with has to get pushed aside for a while.

At the end of the day better games means happy people, happy people means great consumers, great consumers means more money, more money means more great games for happy people :). The fall has been a crazy ride for gaming and probably the most packed, quality wise since 2007. I’m also pretty sure 2007 was the last time we had a Halo and Fallout game come out in the same year.

Which games have you been diving into this fall? Sound off in the comments below or send me a tweet @RealMattMills.
